Product Description

Accenting the Weaker Side is focused on developing control, strength, and facility with the weaker hand and foot for drum set playing. Conceived as a follow-up book to The Weaker Side (Dom Famularo and Stephane Chamberland) and Accents and Rebounds (George Lawrence Stone), Accenting the Weaker Side provides an intensive one-year program to build strength with the weaker hand/foot. All great drummers have one thing in common: they play relaxed with both hands and feet. The predecessor to this book, The Weaker Side, is about developing your weaker hand and foot to give you more balance and control. Accenting the Weaker Side adds another level of dimension of movement that will challenge you and test your level of control. The accents in the book are played following the code of movements presented in Accents and Rebounds. Designed to be played first on pad or snare, the rhythms can also be orchestrated around the drums.

This book is designed as a long calisthenic workout to develop your weaker side. The authors suggest that each exercise be played for one minute. There are 30 exercises per page, so each one-page practice session will take 30 minutes to complete. Work on each page for one week, then move on to the next page. There are 52 pages of exercises, providing a one-year focus on accenting your weaker side.

“This publication can be the way to strengthening and managing one’s core power source. In order to see positive results, one must stay focused and follow the suggestions and directions in the book. It is a good source to practice a strong disciplined approach to achieving a high level of performance.” – Billy Cobham
